Grounding the Heart to Receive Christ

In Acts of the Apostles 13:22–23, it is said:
“I have found David, son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will carry out my every wish.” From this man’s descendants, God, according to His promise, has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus.

David was a grounded person—a man of the Psalms. His heart was formed through prayer, reflection, and continual turning toward God. This grounding made him capable of becoming “a man after God’s own heart.”

We need this same grounding. Without it, the heart remains unstable, easily influenced by fear, desire, distraction, and confusion. With it, the heart becomes ordered, receptive, and capable of aligning with God’s will.

This grounding prepares us to unite with Christ, fulfill our purpose in life, and share in God’s love.

In the Gospel of John 13:16, Christ says, “No slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.” And in 13:20, “Whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.”

These words reveal an important truth: we are always receiving from something. The question is not whether we have a master—but who our master is.

Who Are Our Hidden Masters?

Without grounding, a person is often led by:

  • fear
  • anxiety
  • pride
  • pleasure
  • distraction
  • habits formed without awareness

These become “masters” that shape thoughts, decisions, and actions. They speak constantly, often louder than truth.

The Need to Receive Christ’s Voice

To live rightly, a person must learn to receive Christ’s voice within. This requires an interior life that is attentive, ordered, and trained to recognize truth. Without this, even if Christ speaks, the soul may not recognize Him.

How ChristusWay Helps

ChristusWay helps by training awareness at the level of reflection. It teaches a person to:

  • notice interior movements
  • distinguish truth from confusion
  • understand what is forming their thoughts and desires

Through daily reflection, the person begins to see which “voices” they are following and learns to realign with Christ.

How the Rosary Helps

The Rosary strengthens this grounding by stabilizing the heart and attention. Through repetition and meditation, it:

  • quiets distraction
  • orders the imagination
  • anchors the heart in Christ’s life

It helps connect mind, heart, memory, and habit, making the person more receptive to grace.

Final Insight

Grounding the heart is not optional—it is necessary.

Without grounding, we are led.
With grounding, we can follow Christ.

ChristusWay builds awareness.
The Rosary stabilizes the heart.
