150.Monday: Paul healed a crippled man at Lystra, the crowd tried to worship them as gods.

When Paul the Apostle healed a crippled man at Lystra, the crowd misunderstood the work of God and tried to worship them as gods.

“When the crowds saw what Paul had done, they cried out… ‘The gods have come down to us in human form.’” (Acts 14:11)

This reveals a subtle but powerful truth:
even genuine acts of grace can be misunderstood, misdirected, or distorted.

Evil does not always oppose openly—it often imitates, exaggerates, or redirects the work of grace. What comes from God can be wrongly attributed, misinterpreted, or used to inflate pride, confusion, or false worship.

This is why awareness is essential.

Grace moves quietly, truthfully, and with order—
while deception distorts perception, drawing attention away from God and toward illusion.

Christ gives the safeguard:

“Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me… and I will love him and reveal myself to him.” (John 14:21)

And further:

“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit… will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.” (John 14:26)

To truly recognize and cooperate with grace, a person must not rely on feelings alone, but live in obedience, awareness, and formation.

A sincere Catholic life becomes the protection and pathway:

  • The commandments anchor truth
  • The Holy Spirit illuminates understanding
  • Love becomes the sign of authentic grace

Living a Fundamental Catholic Life

A grounded Catholic life strengthens connection with Christ, the Church, the saints, and through them, the Blessed Mother.

To live this life:

  1. Live a sacramental life — receive grace through the Eucharist and Confession
  2. Pray the Rosary daily — to form the heart with Mary and remain anchored in Christ
  3. Read Sacred Scripture — to align the mind with truth
  4. Seek the intercession of the saints — to grow in communion and guidance
  5. Practice charity in community — to manifest grace through action

Three Secrets to Earn, Receive, and Preserve Grace

First:
Read the ChristusWay Daily Mass Reflections before Mass to prepare your heart to receive grace more fully, and participate in the ChristusWay21 Training Program to grow in awareness of grace in daily life.

Second:
Pray one Rosary before Mass, bringing your intentions to offer during the Mass; immediately afterward, offer the Mass for the Pope’s intentions to help secure and preserve the graces received from distraction.

Third:
Praying three or four Rosaries daily helps a person remain steadily open to grace; since temptations and impulses arise whenever grace flows, one must respond consciously to inspirations of grace rather than react impulsively, for awareness leads to blessing while impulsive reactions lead to disorder and loss of grace.

Christusway Insight

Grace is not absent—it is often unrecognized, unguarded, or misdirected.

The task is not to create grace,
but to recognize it, respond to it, and remain in it.

And when this happens,
the soul moves from confusion to clarity,
from impulse to order,
from self to Christ.
