149. 5th Sunday of Easter : We are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation
One of the greatest problems for a Christian today is not rejection of faith—but lack of awareness of identity.
Who we are in Christ becomes buried under distraction, confusion, and subtle distortions. The truth remains, but it is no longer seen, no longer lived.
(1 Peter 2:9) “You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may announce the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”
ChristusWay21 exists to restore this awareness.
It is a 21-day formation journey that helps Catholics rediscover the dignity received at Baptism:
that we are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation—God’s own people.
When this identity is truly realized, life begins to change. A person no longer lives randomly, but intentionally—to announce the praises of the One who called them out of darkness into light.
In the Acts of the Apostles, the early Church shows us the structure of this life:
(Acts 6:4) “We will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
This is not just for the apostles—it reveals a pattern.
As a person grows in grace, life becomes more ordered toward prayer, truth, and mission.
Baptism is the beginning of this path. It is not symbolic—it is a real entry into Christ’s life, a call to participate in His peace and rest.
Growth in this life is not vague. It is structured and visible:
(2 Peter 1:5–8) Faith leads to virtue, virtue leads to knowledge, knowledge leads to self-control, self-control leads to endurance, endurance leads to devotion, devotion leads to mutual affection, and mutual affection leads to love.
This is the movement of grace within a soul.
The more a person lives a faithful Catholic life—through prayer, sacraments, and discipline—the more grace becomes visible in action. Virtue forms the person, wisdom grows, and gradually the soul becomes oriented toward prayer and the ministry of the Word.
And this leads to the true expression of Christian life:
To manifest the works of God through charity.
Charity is not abstract. It begins in the most ordinary place—the home.
Simple acts of charity include:
- Listening with patience and empathy
- Responding without anger
- Serving without seeking recognition
- Forgiving quickly
- Giving time and attention to others
- Speaking truth with gentleness
These small acts reveal a deeper reality:
The Rosary is a practical path of grace that, through daily meditation on Christ’s life, forms virtue, deepens devotion, quiets distraction, and leads the soul from faith to love, making grace visible in action and charity flow naturally in daily life.
This passage reveals a clear path: through Baptism, a Christian receives a new identity as God’s own, yet this identity often remains hidden without awareness and formation. ChristusWay21 seeks to awaken that awareness, helping a person recognize and live the grace already present within. As one grows through prayer, discipline, and the ordered movement of grace—from faith to love—life becomes aligned with Christ, expressed through charity in daily actions. In this way, the Christian not only believes in Christ but lives through Him, following His words: (John 14:6) “I am the way and the truth and the life” , allowing every thought, action, and relationship to reflect His presence and lead toward the Father.
John 14: 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
